As October comes to a close, autumn’s beauty shines brightly at Coppertop. Dahlias and greenhouse veggies are still producing, although slowing way down. Radiant foliage is the current star.

GREAT PHOTOS! I always dread this time of the year when perennials have run their course and I have to bring all the potted plants inside. At least temperatures are cooler and I won’t have to mow the yard for several months. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Yes, the cooler temps are invigorating. We’re still mowing, but that’ll stop soon enough. Enjoy this season!

Lovely! Is that purple flower a penstemon? (picture after the vegetables in a bowl) I love it!

Yep, that’s a Blackbird Penstemon, which shines in October especially. Thanks for visiting, Lauren.

You certainly get nice foliar color there. It is a week and a half later, and we have almost none. Dogwods and flowering cherries are starting to defoliate without much. Sweetgums are holding their foliage, which could eventually color well.

Nice, Tony. I’m a fan of the Sweetgum here which will be the last to drop leaves. Right now it’s birch time, but I’ve been neglecting posting!

Birches are pretty sweet where they color. They may not color well here, but they are one of the better trees fro bright yellow in the even more arid interior climates. I don’t know why, but as long as the roots get water, the foliage does not mind they dry air.
