The season of clematis blooms has arrived at Coppertop, with two vigorous vines leading the way in the front of our home and near the back deck.

The four-petaled blooms and bronzy foliage lead me to think these are Clematis montana. Identifying the cultivar is much more difficult, but my best guess based on pink fading to white flowers would be ‘Rubens’ or ‘Elizabeth.’
