Sweet cheeping noises are coming from our laundry room where five newborn chicks are keeping cozy.
These are Araucanas, also called Easter Eggers. They’ll lay eggs in blue to green tones beginning sometime this summer.
In a few days we’ll move them to the garden shed with their heater and heat lamp. By the end of April they will have feathered out, and we’ll move them to live with their sister hens in the chicken mansion. My sense of wonder and thankfulness is always restored by the miracle of new life. That, and there’s definitely a cuteness overload at Coppertop!
