Well, a couple weeks ago I wrote what I imagined would be the final farewell to the dahlias. Because our first frost is later than expected, that post made a liar out of me. The blooms are getting smaller and the plants are leggy, but I won’t do any cutting back or digging of tubers until the stems brown. A lecture I attended by Clallam County Master Gardeners has convinced me that I need to dig and store all my dahlias for winter due to our altitude and the fact the older ones haven’t been divided for at least a couple of years. At the lecture I met some amazing dahlia growers, one of whom invited me to come take tubers I’d like from his garden nearby! Gardeners are wonderful people. Here are more lovelies from this weekend:
