Early April has brought the Ribes sanguineum – red flowering currant – into full bloom. Its fruity, spicy fragrance is impossible to resist, and hummingbirds have flocked to these bushes.
Other areas of Coppertop where perennials stand out during this Holy Week leading up to Easter are the Euphorbia, Brunnera, and Pulmonaria.
Coinciding with Good Friday and the remembrance of the sacrifice of Christ, today I noticed varieties of bleeding hearts, or Dicentra, have begun to bloom.
Wow. full glory indeed. what beautiful sights. Hope your Easter was lovely.

Your garden is looking lovely – we grow very similar plants – I have the flowering currant, pulmonaria and dicentra in my yard as well 🙂

Thanks, Matt. Funny that these early spring blooms coincide with your first signs of fall, which I enjoy watching from “up here.”
