There’s nothing quite like fresh sprigs of holly to add a festive feel. Coppertop gardens are graced by a few large bushes of holly, and I’m loving the glossy leaves and bright berries indoors as well.
Not much else of note in the gardens right now, other than some continued cleanup after the windy, wet weather. I was out walking the fence perimeter and was drawn by flashes of orange at the bottom of our hill. What a surprise to find some of our goldfish had traveled downstream with the deluge, winding up in shallow puddles along the fence line. They were rescued with a fishnet by Son and brought back to their home in the pond.
Advent preps have moved indoors as we anticipate a beautiful Christmas celebration with arriving family. The Advent star beckons, and the front door is adorned with a fresh wreath. We intended to “downsize” our noble fir this year after last year’s 12+foot tree, but we ended up with another statuesque beauty. She was a real challenge to decorate, but sets a wonderfully joyful mood!
Your goldfish will have an excellent story to tell their grandchildren. We haven’t had a Christmas tree in a few years, but when we did my spouse always insisted on a big one!

Your decorations are lovely and what a tree – it must have taken hours to put up! Good thing you noticed the fish – what an adventure they had. Have a wonderful Christmas!

Such lovely decorations. Someone there is a domestic diva, for sure. Meanwhile, I’m wishing you a merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.

Right back to you, Cynthia! Happy 2015! We have loved the decorations, but now comes the less fun task of un-decorating…
