Surround Sound

Our croaking bachelor has found some company, or maybe some competition. During the past couple of weeks, the frogs have been forming a symphony of sorts. The waterfall frog is joined in chorus by the pond frog, and the stream frog adds his part most evenings. This is becoming our new bedtime music. Since male frogs croak to attract females, we’re crediting this to the boys.  I’ve heard it said that when folks leave country life behind they miss the sound of the frogs more than anything else.

These frogs are elusive, but we spied this one in the pond. He’s right there in the middle:

Tadpoles will most likely be next, since we identified frog eggs in the pond as well. One excellent benefit of frogs is they eat a lot of bugs. That, and they are experts at lullabies.
